How it works

Four layers that cover each other's gaps

No single trick blocks everything. GamFree Shield stacks four host-level defenses so a bypass that beats one still hits the next.

LAYER 01

DNS proxy

A local resolver sinkholes gambling domains before they ever leave your Mac, and forwards everything else untouched.

LAYER 02

System hosts

Enforced by macOS itself, below the browser and the network stack — so blocking holds even when a VPN tunnels DNS past everything else. The one layer a tunnel can't route around.

LAYER 03

pf firewall

Firewall rules block rogue DNS, DNS-over-TLS, and known DoH provider IPs, while leaving your VPN free to run.

LAYER 04

Browser policy

A managed policy forces Secure DNS (DoH) off in Chromium browsers, closing the last bypass route.

Why commitment

Block lists fail. A commitment holds.

Anyone can uninstall an app at 2am. GamFree Shield is built so the version of you that wants to quit can bind the version that doesn't.

Pick a term — 6 months to permanent — when you start.

While it's active, protection can't be switched off, layer by layer or all at once.

After it ends there's a 7-day cool-down before anything can be disabled.

A tamper monitor re-applies any layer that gets touched, every few seconds.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The blocking is enforced by a privileged background service, and during an active commitment it re-applies itself and resists removal. The whole point is that it holds when willpower doesn't.

Yes. VPNs are intentionally allowed. Blocking still holds because it's enforced at the system level — before any query leaves your machine — so a tunnel can't route around it.

A managed browser policy forces Secure DNS off in Chromium browsers, and known DoH endpoints are sinkholed and firewalled. Firefox and iCloud Private Relay have residual gaps we're closing.

Not during an active commitment — that's by design. After your term ends there's a 7-day cool-down, then you can turn protection off.
